Steeped in feelings of familiarity, nostalgia and sentiment, Salt and Grit is an exploration of British suburbia. Its focus is on one satellite town located twenty-three miles east on London and investigates the way in which people create facades to demonstrate what they deem as ideal. It explores how people use these illusions to project and impression for their neighbours, visitors and to the passersby. It also examines the concepts of pride as much as it does insecurity and vanity.
